The Wedding Photography Questions You’re Googling — And How I Answer Them

When it comes to your wedding day, the photos matter. You’re investing time, emotion and memories — and the last thing you want is to feel unsure about what you’ll get. Here are some of the top questions couples type into Google, followed by how I answer them, so you can feel confident in your photography choice.

What photography style do you shoot?

My approach blends candid, documentary storytelling with fine‑art portraiture. I’ll capture the unscripted moments — the laughter, the glances, the spontaneous connection — and I’ll also pull you aside for a few composed, artistic images that reflect who you two are.

To me, what really matters is that your photographer’s aesthetic aligns with your vision. If their style is pure fashion/editorial and you want relaxed, natural moments (or vice‑versa), the mismatch shows.

How many photographs will we receive and in what format?

For a full‑day wedding — say from preparation, through ceremony, into the reception — I deliver a high‑resolution online gallery of images that tell the full story. I don’t send thousands of repetitive shots; I curate so you get the moments that matter, beautifully edited and print‑ready. We’ll discuss ahead what “coverage” means for you, how many hours, and how many images roughly.

What’s the turnaround time for our wedding photos?

I aim to deliver a sneak‑peek (10‑20 images) within 2‑3 weeks of the wedding, and the full gallery within 4‑6 weeks (unless we’ve built in extra for albums/prints). It’s not just about speed — it’s about delivering quality. That said, you should know in advance what your photographer’s timeline is so you’re not left guessing.

What happens if something goes wrong — backup kit, bad weather, tricky venue lighting?

I carry dual camera bodies, spare lenses, extra memory cards, multiple lighting options, and I’m fully insured. If your venue is low‑light, if it rains, if the schedule shifts — I’ll adapt. On your day, I’m there to capture it all, regardless of conditions, so your memories are safe.

Will there be a second photographer?

It depends on the scale and timeline of your day. For larger weddings (150+ guests), multiple locations (prep for both of you, ceremony, reception), or if you want simultaneous coverage, I recommend a second shooter. For more intimate weddings, I often work solo — keeping consistency and keeping things personal. We’ll decide what makes sense for your day.

Can we supply a shot‑list / how much posing is involved?

Absolutely — if you’ve got must‑have moments (grandparents, a specific family group, a special guest) send them over. I’ll build those into the day. But I also believe in capturing the real, unscripted moments — the ones you didn’t see coming. My portrait sessions are relaxed: I’ll give gentle direction, you’ll feel comfortable, and the results will feel you, not forced.

What’s included in your package? Are there hidden costs?

You’ll know exactly what you’re getting. Your package will outline number of hours of coverage, whether a second shooter is included, how many edited images, online gallery access, print rights, travel within a certain radius, and optional extras like albums. If your day goes over time, or travel is beyond the norm, we’ll discuss that up‑front so you don’t get hidden fees.

Can we see full wedding galleries — not just the highlights?

Yes — and I encourage it. Seeing full galleries from past weddings (not just the best 20 images) shows how a photographer handles the full arc of the day: preparation, ceremony, guests, speeches, dancing, every lighting situation. You’ll see the consistency (or not) and feel confident about how your day will be documented.

Do you travel for weddings / what about destination weddings?

Based in Southend‑on‑Sea, I serve weddings across Essex and the South East. If your venue is further than approximately 50 miles I include travel in the quote (or we discuss what that means). Destination weddings? Yes — I’ve done them. We’ll plan travel, logistics, extra time and make sure your day gets the care it deserves, wherever it is.

When should we book our photographer?

As soon as you find someone whose work you love and whose personality you trust. Popular wedding dates fill up 12‑24 months ahead. The longer you wait, the fewer options you’ll have — and securing your photographer early means you can relax into the rest of your planning with one big vendor sorted.

Final thought

Your wedding photographs aren’t just snapshots. They’re heirlooms. They’re time‑capsules. At CS Willett Photography, I’m committed to giving you both the majestic, art‑worthy portraits and the candid, emotional moments that you’ll look back on with joy. If this style resonates, if these answers feel solid, then let’s talk about your day — because capturing it well matters.
